Canyon Ferry Road Baptist Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. We are an autonomous church that operates entirely on the word of God through His Holy Bible. In everything we do, in every interaction, in every stance we take, every day of our lives, we strive to be Godly men and women and uphold the principles of the Holy Bible. Our members are diverse in age, profession, experience, and outlook on life. But we come together in love to worship and carry out His will. We are Kingdom Building in nature and don't care what faction or denomination you identify with; if you are imbued with the Holy Spirit, if you hold up God's will above all else, we are an ally.
2009: 9th Circuit Court of Appeals
Suit was filed against church with the state political practices commission, alleging that Canyon Ferry Road Baptist Church violated state election law by participating in a Focus on the Family simulcast and allowing petitions in support of a pro-marriage ballot initiative to be circulated on church premises. Montana’s commissioner of political practices subsequently ruled that the Church violated Montana’s Campaign Finance and Practices Act by deciding to support the state’s initiative amendment on marriage.
Aided by Alliance Defending Freedom, the Church filed a lawsuit challenging the commissioner's ruling. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit reversed the commissioner’s decision and held thatthe political practices law is unconstitutionally vague and that its application in this case violated the church’s First Amendment rights.
